When ChatGPT Is Your Life Coach

With the rise of Artificial Intelligence people are turning to ChatGpt and other similar AI platforms to provide life coaching for free. They plug in whatever they need help with, confidence, career coaching, relationship advice, health and fitness challenges and even nutrition plans but just because AI can provide it all doesn’t mean it will deliver on the results. Here’s why you need a human not AI to help you with life and confidence coaching.

There is no doubt that AI is seriously impressive and can complete a plethora of tasks before you’ve even finished your cup of coffee but what many people do not understand is that AI is only as good as it’s inputs. When women come to Magnetic Confidence for coaching the most common things they tell me are:

‘I’ve tried everything and it doesn’t work’

‘I am successful for a while and then I fall off the bandwagon and feel guilt and shame. Suddenly I’m only remembering what I couldn’t do not what I could.’

‘I have read all the books, done the challenges, attended the webinars & still something is not sticking’

‘It’s like I know what I need to fix but cannot find out what that thing is that I need to change everything…if I knew what it was everything would be so different.’

Yes, if you know what thing you need to change and you simply did that life would be easier, everyone would have more confidence and joy and success wouldn’t be something that people are always striving for. Unfortunately the reality is you only know what you know. You might be reading this going ‘umm obviously’ but hear me out. If you open up ChatGpt, Claude or any other platform and say to it, ‘I am struggling to feel self confident how can I change this?’ You’ll get a generic answer. Something that encourages you to take action, be less hard on yourself and implement self care practices. It doesn’t matter what you ask it, it will still give you a generic response. Even if you were to tell Chatgpt all your background information, the successes, the struggles, the things going on repeat in your life it will still give you a generic response, albeit a little more nuanced then your first prompt because you fed it more information and therein lies the problem. You fed it information.

AI will work with what you tell it to. So it will respond to the prompt, give some general advice and tell you what to do next. When humans are told what to do they lack ownership. Suddenly the responsibility for the success lies with Chatgpt not the human driving the tech. The more that the individual tries to uncover the challenge through the help of AI the more they continue to work on themselves without getting a response that truly captures what they need, you know that one thing that could change everything. And you know why? It is completely incapable of delivering on that KPI.

What makes confidence coaching (and life coaching) a success is that it includes two humans, a coach and a client. The client arrives to the sessions with what they believe to be the thing holding them back, searching for answers and the coach holds a mirror up to them, gets them to think, pulls apart their perspective but never tells their client what to do. That is not the coach’s job. Why? Because coaching is meant to unlock someone’s ability to find the answers someone seeks within themselves and when they pull that out through fabulous coaching the results are transformational. It’s transformational not because the coach did anything but because they illicit the answers from their client but walking them through a series of steps that peels back the layers of what’s driving a client to say ‘enough’s enough’. When someone puts a prompt into Chatgpt they actually don’t know what those layers are in the first place and this is why they are looking for the answers. Their perspective, their mindset, their conditioning (the way of thinking, believing, valuing and the actions connected to that) is already skewed based on how they were raised and what their experiences are. It literally must take another person to open this up and not just a friend that knows how to hold space well, even though they are worth their weight in gold, but a professional who is trained to know what you need and when, for the results you desire.

For my clients it’s very possible that it’s not just one thing. They may need to work on beliefs, values, changing their strategy for success and their internal conflict. This may not all happen in one whizz bang moment like Chatgpt respsonses to a prompt but the impact is far greater, deeper. It also removes the guilt and shame so many people, especially women have, because it actually allows you to get to the core of what’s going on instead of recycling your own thoughts and actions and getting generic suggestions that are promised to change your life. Most importantly the coach holds space for you, they can relate to you because they have something AI never will…a heartbeat. Whether modern tech likes it or not this is why in coaching AI will never supersede the human experience.

So the next time you want help and support for real transformative change, book a complimentary session with Julia & have the human experience you deserve.
